Aboard a vintage tram, participants are invited to experience a unique and inspiring journey through the heart of Brussels. Departing from the Tram Museum for an unforgettable ride that combines the exchange of ideas on mobility with atypical networking opportunities.

Throughout the journey, qualified speakers share their thoughts on the future of mobility. Discussions explore topics such as the privilege of mobility, the perception of space through mobility, and technological advancements in this field. Speakers include Matthew Baldwin, Deputy Director General at DG Move (EU Commission), Jill Warren, CEO at the European Cyclists' Federation, Olivier Malay, economist at ACV - Voeding en Diensten, Philippe Lovens, co-founder and CEO of Urbike, and Céline Vanderborght, Smart City Manager for the Brussels-Capital Region and board member of STIB.

Mobility issues in Brussels and around the world are addressed with a contemporary perspective, questioning equality in access to means of transport, inclusion, and the evolution of modes of travel. The event is an invitation to reflect together on the future of mobility in our capital, with the ambition of co-creating a future where everyone finds their place.

Céline Vanderborght

Smart City Manager – Board Member of STIB

Céline Vanderborght has been responsible for smart city management for the Brussels Region within the CIRB (Centre d'Informatique pour la Région Bruxelloise) since 2015. She holds this position with a blend of enthusiasm for urban innovation and rigor, inherited from her initial training as a management engineer (Solvay - 1998). Her interest in mobility began with a thesis on car-sharing companies, followed by a master's degree in urban planning and sustainable development (University of Geneva - 2011) and an analysis of pedestrian mobility in peri-urban areas. She then became involved in numerous "Smart Mobility" projects currently underway in Brussels under the Smart City label. She is also a director of the MIC (My Innovation Center) and has joined the board of directors of STIB.

Jill Warren

CEO of the European Cyclists' Federation

Jill Warren is the CEO of the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF), a Brussels-based NGO that promotes cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transport. Prior to joining the ECF, she held increasingly senior positions in large international law firms, most recently as Global Marketing Director at Bird & Bird LLP, and has also worked in the automotive industry. Of American and Dutch nationality, Jill has spent the last 30 years in Germany, London and Brussels. She holds an MBA from the Solvay Business School/Université Libre de Bruxelles.

Matthew Baldwin

Deputy Director General at DG Move, European Commission

Matthew Baldwin is an official at the European Commission: he is Deputy Director General of DG MOVE, where he has worked since July 2016. Among his main professional activities, he manages the Commission's mission for 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030; he is the European coordinator for road safety and sustainable urban mobility; and he also manages the Commission's crisis network for transport contact points related to COVID-19. During his more than 20-year career at the Commission, he has served in the cabinets of President Barroso, Commissioner Lamy, and Commissioner Hill, the latter as Head of Cabinet. He has also been Director of Market Access and Industry at DG Trade and Director of Aviation at DG MOVE. Of Italian and British nationality, he has two sons, speaks English, French and Italian, and lives in Brussels.

Olivier Malay

Economist at ACV-CSC

Olivier Malay is committed to finding solutions to the climate crisis without leaving anyone behind. To achieve this goal, he advocates for free public transport as well as "zero-cost" housing insulation policies. He developed his expertise on these issues by working for six years as a researcher on socio-ecological transition at UCLouvain. His key themes are practical policies that simultaneously take into account ecological and social concerns. Now holding a PhD in economics, he teaches business and economics ethics at ULB and works as an economist for ACV-CSC.

Philippe Lovens

CEO and co-founder of Urbike

Philippe Lovens is an entrepreneur specializing in urban logistics in all its dimensions, including technological, social and environmental aspects, multimodality, support for local commerce, the circular economy and the concept of the city in transition. Relying on a solid network, Philippe Lovens puts his energy, curiosity and pragmatism at the service of innovation and the realization of systemic solutions aimed at globally improving our society. In 2014, he co-founded CityDepot, a reference in smart city distribution. The company was subsequently acquired by the Belgian postal group bpost. Philippe was a member of the management committee and the board of directors. In March 2018, with Delphine Lefebvre and Renaud Sarrazin, Philippe Lovens co-founded the urbike cooperative, whose mission is to transform mobility and the quality of life in the heart of cities by stimulating the replacement of vans and small trucks with cargo bikes for last-mile deliveries.
